Adult Swim's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Major Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, the late-night programming block welcomed back its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, reminiscent of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. At a time often defined by dark humor, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and propelled it a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The series centers on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," remarked Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for a little longer."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and supported its distinctly quirky sensibility.

"All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about observing this charming family go about their daily lives.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its prevailing layer of irony. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

Future Seasons

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa has the opportunity to help usher in that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences a little more time to experience the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
