England's Coach Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Availability
Tim Southee's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Southee is still working through what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in Australia.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is expected to be present for the opening match because of his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.
Southee, aged 36, assumed a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Speaking as England's squad for the first of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was announced, Southee stated of his participation: "We're still working through that at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
English bowling legend Broad had declared the Australian team as their "weakest squad since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," he said.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [England's] team that's going out to Australia is brilliant.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
However, prior to the English team travel to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday.
