Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
Police have asked individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
