NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features live text for the weekend matchups via various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available on designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six in the NFL season and after last week's talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions both conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times so they kind of defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the final quarter against Denver, set to play in London this weekend.
But it was positive to observe that Denver's QB the rookie managed to have the shortfall and then lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, securing the victory by four points.
The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, and Denver won that battle.
They had effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They did not always rushing more than four pass rushers instead they might plug two LBs in the interior before drop them out and send a slot defender from the outside.
Early on in the campaign, it was noted during a show that the Broncos might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They finished last season strongly and did a good job of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has stepped up big and recent running back their rusher is a player they believe in. He now ranks 5th league-wide for rushing yards (402) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).
It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad aiming to run first, because you can do a lot off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable situations.
It's also helped quarterback Bo Nix, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to pass all over, but they don't move in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he is highly agile.
His assets are his mobility, being able to pass on the run, as well as finding varied release points to make throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass across the middle and past defenders.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got great composure in the pocket and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
When you consistently rush it eats up time and makes the defence to stay on the field for longer, and when you've got a mobile QB the defense has to cover the area vertically side to side. It can be draining.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really build something up the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton has won a Super Bowl and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are experiencing offensively is mostly down to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB aids shape him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to assist you during difficult moments and build confidence.
I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they strong enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that was not championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.
Right now, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. All they need is is maintain this path.
They excel at leaning into their forte, that is running the ball, and this is exactly what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they are the only team without a win a game.
Since the NFL began tracking takeaways decades ago, this team are also the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate up to their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the division.
This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet since Denver {beat|def
