Person That Grabbed Ariana Grande at Premiere Prohibited from Singapore
A man from Australia who vaulted past a barrier and grabbed actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.
The man, aged 26, was handed a penalty to more than a week in jail for being a public nuisance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority informed local media.
The man shoved through camera crews and charged at the celebrity, who was present at the Asian debut for Wicked: For Good on November 13. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
He has a background of interrupting performances and star-studded occasions, including rushing the stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in the past June.
The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with several individuals accusing him of causing further distress to the star.
The singer has discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a explosive incident at her performance in the English city in several years ago killed over twenty people and hurt numerous attendees.
During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event multiple times, according to regional reports.
He then made a second attempt to breach security. Security staff prevented him and restrained him.
Wen later posted video clips expressing gratitude to the star for allowing his presence and said he was "released."
Law enforcement arrested him the next day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.
The Presiding Judge the judicial official was quoted by Channel News Asia as saying that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was incorrect to believe he would not experience repercussions.
Grande has not spoken about the case.
Cynthia Erivo discussed the situation to a media outlet, remarking that she "simply desired to ensure my colleague was protected."
"I think he didn't mean us injury, but you can't predict with these incidents, and I aimed to make sure that she was alright. That was my immediate response," she said.
