Rugby league's administration has announced that participants who sign with the “rebel” R360 will be prohibited for 10 seasons.

The proposed competition, set to start in October 2026, is aiming to attract athletes from both codes with hefty contracts and a slimmed-down game calendar.

Prominent National Rugby League athletes have reportedly received offers by R360, which will feature six or eight men's sides and four women's sides located in large metropolitan areas globally.

The Samoan Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who plays for his NRL club in the NRL, has stated he has had negotiations involving R360.

Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Haas and Jye Gray are also believed to be thinking about signing R360.

Eight major rugby union countries, among them Australia, last week announced a prohibition on athletes signing with R360 appearing in test matches.

“We have consulted our franchises and we've acted decisively,” commented ARLC chief V'Landys.

“Regrettably, there will continually be organizations that attempt to hijack our code for monetary profit.

“They don't invest in talent pipelines or the advancement of players. They merely capitalize on the efforts of existing bodies, jeopardizing careers of financial loss while profiting themselves.

“They are, in reality, imitating the sport.”

The organization is established by ex-England star Tindall and supported by commercial backers.

Following the potential rugby union sanctions were announced recently, it stated: “We seek to cooperate collaboratively as integrated into the worldwide fixture list.

“The competition is arranged with bespoke schedules for men's and women's teams and R360 will release all players for test matches, as written into their agreements.”

The new league will request authorization for its initiatives from World Rugby, the sport's regulatory group, at its board session in the coming year.
