Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the team's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted known failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
