The United Kingdom is set to progress with using the entire amount of immobilized Russian assets to aid the Ukrainian war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany emphasized that this unified step would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to come to the table.

They further noted that the move would be executed in strong partnership with the America.

UK restrictions have blocked in excess of £25bn of Russia's assets since the Russian government began its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, funds sent to Ukraine using Russian assets had solely been drawn from profits and interest accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their desire to advance efforts toward utilizing the complete amount of the seized Moscow's national holdings to conclude the conflict.

He stated that further measures over the next period would increase the strain on Russia.

This declaration follows European Union representatives convened in Copenhagen previously to discuss using frozen Russian funds for a 140-billion-euro credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, President Donald Trump urged international partners to take or employ seized Russian funds, based on reports.

The worth of frozen Russian funds in the EU is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Leader Zelensky urges UK's Sir Keir Starmer to take part in the PURL programme

The Russian government executed extensive missile and drone strikes across the Ukrainian territory on that day, leading to power cuts in significant regions of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were killed and a minimum of 20 people were injured in the strike, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a update on X subsequent to the attack, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault aimed at civilian and energy infrastructure.

"The necessity is not empty words but firm measures - from the America, the European Union, and the Group of Seven - in delivering defense mechanisms and enforcing sanctions," he stated.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky noted, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to the press he would press Sir Keir to enter the PURL scheme, under which alliance members acquire arms from the America to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the United Kingdom's strong support for Kyiv, he noted it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the program, as well as apply additional measures on Moscow.
