Two Victims Identified in the Ivy League School Attack as Police Press On With Search for Killer.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their killer continued following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, the group said. Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences publicly, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Remembering her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the prestigious university, family members said.

His name was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a raid at a lodging about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”

Community Anxiety

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our city”.

The shooter opened fire inside a classroom in the building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a police source told the media outlet.

Law enforcement that searched the lodging found a pair of pistols and magazines when the individual was taken into custody, the news agency reported.

Condition of the Injured

Regarding the nine injured, one student was discharged from care, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.

A private school, a independent school in North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Additional Memorials

Cook was honored at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only during her upbringing... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she worked for her branch and fellow classmates,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and schoolmates and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
