What We Know Concerning the Those Lost of the Bondi Beach Shooting
A minimum of 16 individuals were killed and in excess of 40 were hurt when gunmen fired on a Hanukah celebration at Bondi Beach, a tragedy local police have called a act of terrorism.
According to the most recent information, officials have confirmed the number of fatalities stands at 16, including one of the alleged attackers. Furthermore, 42 people with injuries were taken to hospital.
The victims are yet to be officially identified, but police believe their ages are between 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Known as a father of five children, he worked as the assistant rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Family members and acquaintances described him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help people”.
“How can a happy rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, have his life ended in this way?” a family member said.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the birth of their youngest child in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, as stated by his wife.
She described the moments before the shooting, explaining they were standing when the gunfire started. “He pushed his body up because he wished to be near me,” she said.
The husband and wife were both survivors of the Holocaust, having faced unspeakable terror in their youth. They had subsequently moved to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
The French authorities have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Publicly, the Foreign Minister expressed that France shared the grief of his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This cowardly attack is a fresh and tragic example of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must put a stop to,” the message read.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was taken to the a children's hospital succumbed to her injuries, according to police reports.
One Israeli Citizen
One victim from Israel was also killed in the incident, according to multiple sources citing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, many remain under care, with a number in critical condition. The injured comprise two police officers who responded to the attack.
A casualty is a bystander who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the gunmen. Described as a hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. Sources state he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he described the incident as an “absolute bloodbath,” but also praised the actions of those who rushed to help. He said he felt it was a “miracle” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was also injured in the attack. He told reporters he listened to “a large number” of shots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I was hit. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
